- Save Spruce is a movement of students, parents, and community members in the Dallas, TX area of Pleasant Grove.
On June 26, 2008 the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees voted, 6-3, to restructure Spruce HS in accordance with Option A, Amended which called for turning Spruce into a Freshman Center, moving Sophomores and Juniors to two other high schools in South Dallas, giving Seniors the option of returning to finish their last year, and moving repeating Freshmen to two different Alternative Schools.
Ever since Option A was announced at a Town Hall Meeting on June 17, students, parents, and community members were opposed to it.
In accordance with both TEA and NCLB rules, parents and community members should have been allowed active participation in the creation of any plan that directly effected the education of their children. With the creation of Option A, they were denied this.
This blog is dedicated to our fight to save our school, to keeping our students in their homes, and making our voices heard.
